Yiɗiraaɓe ɓee njey faa ndarii e nokkuure ndee,
ɓe taykii ɓe tawi ɗiɗi ɓulli ɓutti na surƴondira
ana kokkondira diƴƴeele ana njoppi wooturu
tataɓordu yoorndu waɗaandu hakkunde cirƴuɗi. 740
Hamtudo wii :
— « Kaaweesi ndaa ndee haaynde heyre ko ɗum haɗi
fay toɓɓitere ɓuttaaɗi solataa saama ley
nder nduu ndu kokowol yoori faa ana gebbinii
waɗi cuuɗi nyebere sabaabu fay ɗoo maasata? » 745
Tati ɓulli njaabdii:
— « Min koytemeeɓe taton minen ngoni sappooɓe
ndaa maale yaamana-juuju, Kaydara sirru jey,
goɗɗiiɗo sanne ɓaɗiiɗo oon woni Kaydaraa.

blows and kindles yet more.
Those of us here have already prayed;
at the prayer time, we completed our task.
And at the appointed hour we poured
the milk of nourishment, life-giving milk.
We paid our tithe in butter, paid our debt.
We emerge from a tiny drop
fallen as miracle rain
in a fertile hollow, veiled and hidden.
We are destined to rot and decompose.
We are destined to putrefy.
We follow the return cycle.
We are created creatures.
We are creative creatures.
We have not weakened on our route.
Peace is our every hope.
We are bound for the kingdom of Kaydara;
Kaydara the distant, Kaydara the near.”
Then the whole valley answered:
“He will reward your labors, he will frustrate no one!
Go to Kaydara the distant, Kaydara the near.”
The three friends then went into the valley.
They saw off in the distance, gushing and rising,
two fountains which criss-crossed; each came down
where the other had sprouted, each penetrating the other.
The friends advanced towards them, stopped
and saw how two streams flowed abundantly,
exchanging their waters above
a dry stream-bed between the two.
Hamtudo exclaimed:
“Oh miracle! What new marvels! And why
does not a drop from the full wells stream off
and fall in the empty well with cracked walls
woven with beetle nests because of being so dry?”
The three streams answered in one voice:
“We are very related and constitute the tenth symbol
of the country of the dwarf-spirits whose secret belongs to Kaydara,
the distant, the nearby one whose name is Kaydara.
